Above:
'Just' DeKeyboard Player (foreground, AKA Will Kurk) playing The good shhh on the
Hammond B3. Of course, many hours were spent in the lounge trying to keep Verbal
Kent (top left) and Willis D.2 from getting too boisterous around the 1976

a live 2 0 0

Ah yes, 2001 is looking
bright for the likes of Chi-Town hip hop... Thanks to all the headz
who turned up (and to Verbal Kent who
promoted like hell!), March 3rd at the Morseland was a colossal
success. Hosted by O-Type Star, the show offered some of the tightest
acts in the Midwest, including Rusty P.'s reprez. Milwaukee, WI and.Binay Star (CDs
tight!!) reprez. Waterworld (AKA Michigan).
Sponsored by Rebirth and Eyes.Wide.Open
Productions, this was just the start of a new effort to aggressively promote, encourage,
and unite underground Hip Hop throughout the Midwest - particularly in Chicago.
So if you like what you saw, or if you're sick of sleepin at all these
local acts you've been seeing, look out for upcoming shows from Rebirth and E.W.O.P this
April at the Morseland:
- Fri. April 06 -
Organic Mind Unit,
- Swollen Members, Oldominions,
Moka Only and Them Badd Apples
-
- Sat. April 21 -
Organic Mind Unit,
- Styles of Beyond, Binary Star
Check OMU's .upcoming events for
more details on these.
Upcoming OMU Shows
Some other notable OMU shows soon to
coming include:
April 13 at the Hotouse,
with Baldwin Bros., an acid-jazz-style group who put on a admirable performance
last time they shared the stage with OMU. (For those who are oblivious or just
don't remember - this was the show Verbal Kent and Mister Burns raffled off a
cantaloupe to a lucky winner in the audience.)
Also, be sure to catch the Unusual Suspects Friday, March 30
at Logan Square, where OMU's own Original Black Ted Koppel and Ken E Rhyme
will compete in the male/female Thong Contest!! Yes, that's right.
OMU will be playing their first official thong contest this weekend. (No.. 3/3's
showdown between Burns and Drummond did not count!) Be sure to pick up your
enhanced 3-D vision glasses at the door!
But seriously, pay attention to those
upcoming Rebirth/E.W.O.P. events (mentioned above), cause some hedz are no doubt about to
be turned! Check OMU's .upcoming events page for details on all of these events...

Well, Hello or greetings or whatever you prefer! Yes, you! How's thangs? Drop
me a line, let me know! Interesting stories, etc. Also, let me know if I can
post it. Aaighht?? Now the first odor of bizness is that the new Unusual Suspects

website and see what happens? Hmm?
The last show was the bomb.
Morseland Friday night, with Cool Play and Baldwin Brothers. Basically, I'd like to
thank everybody present, that night, that provided such a lush dope vibe
and a most positive energy to an otherwise excellent evening.. Best show yet!

Question of
the Month:
What's the
difference between an AKA and an Alias?
|
AKA KAK
AKA
AKK |
| A. Reid: |
"There's a question to every answer
as of the same difference. It is of no consequence." |
| Willis Drummond2: |
"It's the same damn thing!..
No... see, I'm tired of bein' slandered over the got-damn Internet!" |
| William Kurk: |
"Similar alike but difference apart.
The two converge as unified as a definition. But as different as a
three-striped band and a naked swoosh." |
| Mr. Burns: |
"3 letters (Z, G, P and L and
5)" |
| Shaye: |
"Phil Collins" |
| Verbal Kent: |
"I don't have anything to say about
that right now. That's my answer." |
Thanks to [the original black]
Colen Powell for asking this month's question.
Have a question?_Ask O.M.U. and you just may get a relevant answer. Include a photo or
illustration if possible.
